Lampeter Swimming Pool

Background

The pool was opened on the 29th May 1972 by the Chairman of the Lampeter School Old Pupils Association, Cllr W. S. Watkins B.A., J.P.

The swimming pool was the realisation of the dreams, co-operative effort and the generosity of the people of the district.  It enhanced peoples leisure time and provided an excellent venue for swimming education.  During the later part of 1998 and early 1999 the swimming pool was refurbished with a complete new changing area, reception and administration facility.

In 2002, the Steam Cabin was installed and during 2003, the Hot Tub facility was added to complete the Health Suite.

Lampeter Swimming Pool currently employs 1 full-time Manager; 2 full-time Lifeguards; 13 casual Lifeguards and 10 Poolside Helpers.  All are expected to deal with Reception, Vending, and Cleaning duties and 10 of them are also qualified Swimming Teachers.  All Lifeguards hold a current ‘First Aid at Work’ Certificate.
